Week 1 of GUTGAA
Welcome to Week 1 of GUTGAA! Monday, Sept 3rd-Friday, Sept 7th is Meet and Greet time, a chance to visit other writers' blogs and get to know them. Check out Deana's blog to see a list of all participating authors. Here are my answers to the questions:
Questions for the Meet and Greet
Where do you write?
At my computer at my desk in my bedroom, my cat (Rockford) sitting on the windowsill next to me.
Quick. Go to your writing space, sit down and look to your left. What is the first thing you see?
iPod dock speaker/charger thing made by Philips. I love it.
Favorite time to write?
Morning.
Drink of choice while writing?
Coffee, fresh ground and perked with half & half and Sweet n’ Low.
When writing , do you listen to music or do you need complete silence?
Music, always. Preferably loud rock n’ roll.
What was your inspiration for your latest manuscript and where did you find it?
A very old furnace in the basement of my old house. (It’ll make sense when you hear the plot of my novel, I promise.) This is the middle grade novel for which I need an agent.
What's your most valuable writing tip?
Write like no one’s ever going to read it. Don’t hold back.

I would like to hear much more about the premise of your novel! :D
Loud rock and roll. Like Stephen King likes to listen to when he writes. Sounds legit.
I can smell that coffee.
Ooo great answers! Can't wait to hear your plot. And I love the "hit list." :)
Love the inspiration...definitely intrigued to here the plot!
Donald, anyone who drinks perked coffee is someone I can totally see eye-to-eye with. Drip is for drips! Best of luck in GUTGAA!
Great advice. And I'm all for learning more about the creepy furnace...
Rockford is one cool cat! Enjoy GUTGAA!!
Wow. Loud Rock n' Roll?? That's awesome.
I'm your 60th follower! My dog hangs with me when I write. :) Your cat is cute!
An old furnace? Creepy and perfect for middle grade. :-)
Furnaces are super creepy. Now I'm really curious about your project.
Stop by and say hello if you haven't already :-) http://anjeasandro.blogspot.com/
I'm curious about the furnace now too. I picture the chortling one from Home Alone... Nice to meet you!
A novel inspired by a furnace sounds cool. Your cat is adorable too. Nice to meet you.
Oh~ Like the advice to write like no one's ever going to read it, so much easier to put yourself out there. Nice.
I love your advice!!! Writing for yourself can only convey your passion.
Donald,
Greetings from another Donald. I enjoyed your answers to the GUTGAA questions. I'm a coffee drinker as well. Hazelnut is my creamer of choice. I love infusing writing with real world realia. Great idea to use the furnace for a mid grade book. Happy Writing.
Regards,

Amazed at how many writers love writing in the morning. Not so amazed by how many of us drink coffee;) And I got my husband the phillips docking station for his birthday last month. He said for once I got him something he likes. Still not sure whether that makes me sad or proud. Nice to meet you!
I love your writing tip, it makes the process of writing feel so free!! and I love the picture of your kitty, mine can quite often be found in between my arm and my laptop as I edit my MS
Hi, Donald--
I like your writing advice. If you're always thinking about how the reader might like it, you'll be restrained.
Have a great rest of GUTGAA.
Michael
Ooo, I like my coffee the same way (except I prefer Splenda). Your cat is very dignified-looking. Your furnace inspiration reminds me of a tweep of mine (he just put a short story up on his site about his appliances talking to him). Anyway if you have a moment hop along the GUTGAA trail to say hi on my blog.
